IPMBA Basic Police Cyclist Course

HOURS: This IPMBA certification course consists of four 9-hour days-  0800-1700 hrs.

During the 4-day Basic Cyclist Course operators will learn how to safely and effectively conduct patrol operations while riding an agency issued mountain bike.  The Basic Cyclist Course is physically and mentally demanding. Participants will be required to pass a written test as well as a performance-based test on their bicycle.  

The following areas are covered in depth: 

  • Basic bicycle operations
  • Maneuvering in various traffic and environmental conditions including: low and high level obstacle clearing and patrolling in crowds
  • Equipment and uniform options
  • Legal issues
  • Patrol procedures and tactics
  • Basic bicycle maintenance
  • Night operations
  • Firearms skills specific to police cyclists (full duty gear-200 rounds of pistol ammo)

Over the last 30 years Lou Ann has instructed internationally in the areas of instructor development, training for specialty units and female police officer’s performance improvement and professional development including the Kuwaiti Female Special Forces and Ford Motor Company E.P.
